#LockDownDiaries 3/21: Support your local superette

Day 3/21: Those of you who are in lockdown (in South Africa and elsewhere) who need to go out occasionally to buy groceries: please please please support small businesses this lockdown, including your nearby neighbourhood superettes and corner shops first (like the Kloofnek Grocer on Kloofnek Road).

These small businesses, like most SMEs in South Africa and the rest of the world, are bearing the brunt of the corona-induced economic disaster that’s upon us. Yes, their prices may be a bit higher than at the bigger stores but they’re also nearby, not busy and crowded, and a fundamental part of our community.

That is why I will say it again: Let’s all support small businesses this lockdown, whether you are in South Africa, the US, Europe or Asia.

Then there is another thing you can do, and that is to report any fake news on the coronavirus in South Africa. It is easy and quick, and effective.
